You don’t need to be an expert nose to know that the fragrance industry is booming. 2024 saw the emergence of new perfume brands like Noyz and Orebella, plus the rediscovery of old favorites with Tom Ford Santal Blush (thanks, Taylor Swift). Over 1.7 billion people tuned into #PerfumeTok. By the end of this year, the fragrance market is expected to be worth over $110 billion dollars.

Our collective scent obsession has—and will—continue into 2025, but in a more all-encompassing way. As fragrance expert Sable Yong put its, “we’re going to see every part of our daily, seemingly mundane lifestyles scented.” Which means personal scent is evolving beyond scenting the person—it’s about scenting everything personal to you in an elevated way, including your clothes, your home, and even your car.

Experts are predicting this category—luxuriously fragranced basics, if you will—as one of the biggest 2025 perfume trends actually. And I’ve been tracking down all of the coolest and most innovative iterations of the trend and compiled them all below. So if you want to make your clothes smell like your favorite perfume without even spraying it, or your car smell like roses, or your house smell like that $400 scent you love all through an app on your phone, it’s yours. Truly. Read with your nose, people.

For your clothes:

Smellmaxxing, aka combining all the things to overhaul your scent and smell frickin’ delicious, is the hip thing with the kids rn, btw. (No, actually, it was started by 12-year-old boys on TikTok.) And just about the best way to do it as an adult is with fancy laundry detergents and dryer sheets inspired by expensive perfumes.

For your bedroom:

You’re probably used to spraying yourself down with perfumes and body sprays in your bedroom. But that’s not the only way to get your sleep space smelling good. From wall plug-ins to scented body lotions to slather on to linen sprays for your entire bed, your room deserves this scented upgrade.

For your car:

Throwback to the black ice air fresheners of your youth. These are nothing like that, aside from being a bit nostalgic. Instead, they’ve got a softer fragrance in a mix of warm, cozy, gourmand, and fresh scents. Plus, they look a whole lot less… intense, we’ll say. Also, car diffusers? They’re a thing now.
